Wedding, Myrtle Beach - April 25, 2009

Hey All,

Today’s post is from a beautiful wedding held up in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Once again I was a second (2nd) shooter for CVI Photography. As before these are my shots and may or may not be part of the official photos for the wedding. These are photos that I liked and think that you will also.

The bride and groom were a lot of fun and willing to try anything we asked of them.

The wedding was April 25, 2009. The previous Wednesday was when the fires came onto the national press in this area. When we arrived, the fires had moved farther to the north and did not directly effect us. However as you will see in a couple of days, the fires came real close to where the reception was held.

Life interrupted

Hey All,


Life get’s busy for everyone at one time or another. That is where I am at now.

The last couple of weeks have kept me on my toes. Over the last three (3) weeks I have had the opportunity to 2nd shoot three (3) weddings with two very good photographers. The first wedding was with Jenni of JB Fresh Photography. The last two (2) has been with Virgil of CVI Photography & Co. Both of them are excellent Charleston Wedding Photographers.

Because I am only assisting with the weddings, this is not enough to pay the bills. So like most struggling artists I also have a full time day job. Like most people the 40 hours work week is more like 50 hours.

But, if you have been following this blog, you also know that I have been having a new house built. Even though I have not built the house myself, there has been plenty of other work to deal with. The house is surrounded by trees, and we have kept busy removing many of these trees. Some of the trees I took out because they were too close to the house. Others had to be removed to all the power company a cleared area to run the new power lines.

The good news is that the house construction is now complete and we have been given the keys to the house. However, we are not moving in yet. The wife has decided that she wants to paint all of the inside of the house. So far, two rooms and done.

After the painting is done, then we can begin loading the house. We have new furniture waiting to be picked up at the store. Figured we could splurge since the last furniture was nine (9) years old. It has done us well over 3 moves, but was time to replace.

The storage unit is also full. Wow, you collect a lot of stuff over 21 years of marriage. Sometime you have to wonder if it will all fit into the house.

We have a dead line to complete get the house livable. My sister in-law will be having her bridal shower at our house on 2nd of May. Too much to do with too little time.

Just to complicate the timeline, I will be gone next weekend also. I have been asked to assist on a wedding in Myrtle Beach. Will be driving up on Friday and return on Sunday. At least my wonderful wife is understanding.

Not sure I Agree

Hey All,

I like most of the house so far. Can not wait until the insides get done.

However there are a couple of things that I do not like.

Here is a photo is the sewer tube that heads out to the septic tank. Why is it allowed to be above ground?

Here is the location that the power company wants to have the power meter mounted. I want the meter mounted on the end of the house. This would help keep the backyard clean. It is only a few feet more. Berkeley Electric will not budge. Ugh!

Siding is on and Done

Hey All,

The siding company came Friday and Saturday. They put the siding on both ends of the house and fixed the broken pieces. When the house came in, several pieces of the siding were ripped off. During the lift of the house modules several pieces of siding were crushed.

We have a roof

Hey All,

When I got home today, I found I have a roof on the house. We decided to go with a green metal roof. Should last longer.

I was also pleasantly surprised to find that the air conditioning unit was also install. To bad we do not yet have power to the house.

Craning in the House

Hey All,

Yesterday the house segments were brought onto the lot. Today the crane came in and place the home onto it's foundation. We had three (3) cameras working today. Two (2) of them were being used to shoot the action. I shot over 950 action shoots. This will take a while to sort out and decide what should be posted.

The third camera was set to shoot every three (3) seconds. Took over 4500 photos over the course of the day. I plan on converting these into a movie.

The crew arrived at 8am. Crane arrived at 9am. The crew had the house water tight and finally left at 7:30pm. They earned their money today.

My House Arrives

Hey all

My house arrived. They called while we were eating dinner and said that it was on its way. Tomorrow the crane arrives and will place the house on to the foundation.

Block work not done yet.

Hello All,

My last post showed that the block was laid and ready to go. So I had thought. The block work was not done. Team came in to ‘finish’ the work. They put in more rebar inside the top of the block. Then they brought in another cement truck and filled all of the block creating on large fill. They even filled the center pillars. Once the concrete was in they added strapping into the pour.

By the time they were done, it was getting late. Not sure how well this will show.

Get Laid

Hello All,

As promised in my last post, here is the next phase of construction. Today’s photos show the blocks that were layered the will support the structure. Because this area is know as the “Low Country”, code calls for buildings to be raised above ground.

This is just a quick post. Nothing fancy. Most of the work was done before I got home.

Pouring the foundation

Hello All,

I have been delinquent with my postings of late. The whole family has been having colds. The problem is that they do not all come at once. For the last month we have been passing it around. Get sick, get well, get sick again.

But I have not been the only one. Mike over at Tillman Branch Photography admitted pretty much the same on his last blog post.

I have finally loaded up some more photographs showing up dates to construction.
This set is from last Thursday when the foundation was poured.

I will get caught back up now that I am feeling better.

When you look at the foundation layout without any walls, it sure looks small.
