Charleston Scottish Games 2008

The 37th Scottish Games were held 20 September 2008 at Boone Hall Plantation. This is an event that anyone, not just Scottish, should attend. I had a blast and would recommend that you find out when the local games are in your region.

I spent about 5 hours at the games moving around from one event to another. If I had only one complaint is that the Clans had tents set up around the main field. This made it VERY difficult for the fans to get a clear view of the different games.

Below is but a few of the pictures that I took walking around. I ended up taking about 500 pictures throughout the day. Enjoy…

Goofing with light

Spent the night waiting for the 'storm' called Hana to arrive. Once we got tired of trying to shot the rain I decided to play with a flash.

Used a Nikon D700 with the 24-70mm lens. The flash is a Vivitar 285H.

From Blog 2008
Used a flashlight as the light source. Moved before turning off the light gives it that mystic look.

From Blog 2008

Single Vivitar flash 'popped' twice.

From Blog 2008
Same idea as above but 'popped' the flash 3 times. Once on the two of me and the third time to provide fill light on the branch above.

Tropical Storm HANNA

Tropical Storm HANNA has passed. Nothing bad happened. We were prepared, but the storm did not even give us a descent wind. No tree limbs came down. Only about 3 inches of rain.

Here are a few shots from last night. All shots taken with the Nikon D700 using the 24-70 f/2.8 lens.
