My poor Wife

She was stuck we the kids for two extra days.

Thursday she had to take both kids to the doctor’s office.
However their appointments were 3 hours apart. Our daughter had strep throat. The son had a bad cold.

That would have been bad enough. Things are never that simple…

1. Doctor’s office is 1 hour away.
2. Weather went bad. Started to snow (bad enough that the schools were closed)
3. She had to wait another hour to wait for the strep results.
   

Of coarse because of the snow and ice, school was also closed on Friday. My daughter finally gets a day off from school and they close the school on her.

What are we doing to our Kids?

I hear people say that kids are out of control these days. Because of this we control every little detail of there life. We no longer allow them too go out and explore and learn. They are supposed to get everything out of a book. What ever happened to “Life Lessons”?

When I was young (er), we would go out to an open field that had tall grasses and weeds. A path was opened that led to our ‘fort’. Today’s kids do not have that opportunity as often.

In Florida a 13 year old student was suspended for 10 days and could be banned from school over an alleged assault with a rubber band. EXCUSE ME !! Is there a new type of rubber band on the market? Maybe the have razor blades built in.

Threatening his teacher with what administrators say was a weapon. Interesting. We all know that schools now have a zero policy when dealing with weapons brought to school. If we follow this idea, go into a school admin office and find a rubber band, it is our duty, no OBLIGATION to call the police. We can not allow this ‘weapons cash’ to threaten the rest of the student body.

Is it any wonder today’s kids act out. ?

Office Politics

We are always placed into a position of office politics.

Over the weekend I was put into the in-fighting going on. I went into the office down the hall and retrieved a flat panel monitor of ours. I put back onto the desk their original CRT monitors. It takes up much more of a foot print. This was done because my boss and the lady in the other office are in the middle of a small battle.

He wanted me to swap out the monitors Friday. That way he was not the bad guy. I did not want to be placed into that position. So I came in over the weekend to do the deed.

Because of the pissing fight of these two, little real work is getting done. Both blocking the duties of each other.

What should I do?

Must admit that I did give him feedback but it still always good to know that someone sees what you are doing.

I have been bad at updating my website. I am not completely happy with the layout. Part of me does not want to keep adding content if I am just going to tear it down and start again.

I started the site with the idea of making it a storage area for jokes and other items that I have received in email.

There were a lot of good items coming across and I did not want to loss them all.
Some was funning, some made you think and a few brought a tear to your eye. Because a lot comes from female friends there are a lot that are for the girls in your life. It was what they like.

I am getting ready to add video files to the page also. Glad I have 1gig at VizaWeb.

The next thing to add to my blog is a counter. I know a few people are coming around, now to see just how many.

TV Networks

One must really wonder what kind of skills TV network programmers need.

Why do they put similar types of shows on at the same time? This kind of planning would only seem to divide your viewers.

One example is Fridays at 8pm. On UPN is Enterprise and on Sci-Fi is Stargate SG-1. Both of these shows would likely carry the same fans. However, now they must choose. I would have chosen to place Enterprise at another time slot that did not have the same genre. Because of this fatal flaw Enterprise is being cancelled due to low viewership.

I can only ask one question. What were they thinking? For these decisions they earn millions. Instead of canceling the show, perhaps they should be fired!

You can see this happen at least 5 times each season. They never learn.

AWS

Alternate Work Schedule

Nice little invention to keep us 'serfs' undercontrol. It gives us a false sense time off. I know I work as much time if not more than a straight 8, but I must admit it does allow one to charge the batteries.
Of course there is always another nice item. The Boss also takes AWS. To keep someone in the office we take different days. I get get done the little jobs done at my own pace that normally is not important enough to do when is at work.

I am still trying to learn the ways. I have been at this job for about 4 months. I am unsure what to expect. I am starting a new carreer. I spent the last twenty years in the Navy. Now I am working to a new world for me. It was all so simple before. When the captain said jump we asked how far. Here there is way to many people trying to create thier own kindoms.

Main problem for me is I am unable to get the e-mail posting service to work. I have verified the address to send to. I is set to publish. I have sent from a couple of addresses.
Nothing seems to work. Help

The Briefing

The Briefing went very well, if not very long.
Looks like we got away with it. Maybe we will be able to do more of these now. Only had one division that failed to send anyone.

The Survey

A couple of weeks ago I got a phone call from a survey company. For some reason I decided to answer some of there questions. They asked about 20 questions and lasted less then 10 minutes. No big deal.

However they also asked if they could then send me a survey form. I figured that it would be about 20 pages. Boy was I wrong! Three (3) survey. One for my wife, one for me and one for the household. The booklets for both my wife and I are 120 pages. The booklet for the household is 70 pages.

At least they gave us each $5.00 when we got the survey and when we complete it we will each get another $20.00.

Was joking with the daughter. See was talking about moving out at 18 so I thought it would only be far for me to move out at 18 years also.

She told me I could not get divorced.
Reason: My son would become a Gang Member if I was not here to provide him a father figure.

Woke up today to find a layer of snow on the ground.

Weather man had said we would only get a little rain. Can they ever get it right?

The start of another work week. Once again little real work on the the schedule. Others think the important thing is to argue over what kind of signs on the office doors looks better. Like it even matters.

Getting prepared for an upper level security briefing. Called in a third party to give most of the briefing. However a lady from a different division thinks she is the only one allowed to call them even when it deals with information she has NO reason to be involved.

Last week she tried to get the briefing cancelled because it was not her idea. That way in a month or two she could then reschedule it and get the credit. I wish Sharron S. could just understand that we ALL work for the same group.

Lets hope we can pull it off.

The Beginning

This is day one. lets see how long I can go.
