Nikon D700 Lust

I know that always moving up to the newest technology is not the best trend to follow. However when the time comes to move to newer gear, why hold off. One can not complain when a complain when a company like Nikon comes out with such a great camera like the D700.

I went over to B&H Photo and put everything that I would need into a wish list before the camera went on sale. Because of my move I had to move some money around to make sure that I could cover the cost of the Nikon and extras. I have my money ready and went back to B&H and Augh! The D700 was now listed as Out Of Stock. Looks like I am back to waiting.

Just as soon as they come into the store I am ready to hit the buy button.

Nikon D700, I lust over you. (Is it wrong to lust over a piece of equipment?)

Photo Walking

The week of the great photo walking is getting ready yo happen in DC

Trevor Carpenter of Photowalking.org is coming to DC in Friday August 22nd and is setting up a DC photowalk while he’s here! Shawn Duffy also has a great write-up on his blog.
Just to be ready, here are a few points;
  • Meet on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, at 6pm.
  • Be prepared to walk a few miles.
  • Be prepared to shoot some low light stuff too. (tripod!)

Now for the next one:

World Wide Photowalk slated for August 23rd.

Scott Kelby (of NAPP) is organizing the first ever Worldwide Photowalk on Saturday August 23rd. This is the day after the DC photowalk. So to find out all of the details, click this link. Jeff Revell from ProPhotWalk will be leading the Washington DC area photowalk which will take place in Old Town Alexandria.

I will be doing my best to make both of these. I moved to Summerville, S.C. back in June. However just by luck my company is sending me back to DC for that was for a class. Sometimes you just have to count on LUCK.

Here are a couple of pictures from the last photowalk held in DC and lead by Jeff. Hope to see you there.

Wedding of Elizabeth and Dustin Gavin

I had the honor of attending the wedding of Elizabeth and Dustin Gavin. Here are a couple of the shots from the wedding. The weeding was help on the beach at Folly Island.

Moon Light

Hey all

Storms have been passing by the Charleston, SC area for the last couple of days. The Moon decided to poke out between the branches of a tree. It called to be shot.

Spike

Hey all,

Last night we took the kids turtle Spike. I figured this was a chance to do some flash practice. I was use a Vivitar 285 flashing through a white 36 inch umbrella.

You would think that it would be easy to set up a light on a stand and take a picture of a turtle. However, Spike had other ideas. you would not believe how fast he can move in the grass.

I am Home

I am now calling home in Summerville, S.C. I have been here for about a week and am starting to get settled. Now I will start back to taking my photographs and posting here on the blog.

A job I now have. I went on one interview and have received a letter with a start date of 14 July. The timing is as perfect one could hope for. This gives me my two (2) week vacation with out the worries of having to support my family.

This last week, Nikon introduced the camera of my dreams, the D-700. Officially it is on the streets 25 July 2008. I hope to have one by mid August. WOW!
